SURFING IN GALICIA, NORTHWEST SPAIN
Galicia, part of ‘Green Spain‘, dominates the northwest corner of the Iberian Peninsular and its rugged coastline still hides wild untapped surf where it’s still possible to find good quality waves and surf all alone.
The La Coruña area of Galicia is home to some of Europe’s most unspoilt natural environments and beautifully preserved historic cities of religious importance. The jagged coastline is dotted with quaint fishing villages, deserted pure white sandy beaches and fjord like inlets and estuaries that produce some of the best seafood in the world.
The climate can be best described as being Celtic, due to the high annual rainfall and stormy winters. However on the other hand the climate in summer and autumn is pleasent and thanks to it’s geographic position and exposure to Atlantic swells means it’s the most consistent summer surf destination in Europe.
