The Surf Camp is open from June to end September and places are subject to availability at time of booking. This coastline receives enough swell during this period especially for beginners and intermediates, however for more experienced surfers we recommend the month of September as the surf is generally bigger and more challenging.

The Surf Accommodation comprises of a traditional Galician auberge plus a Galician style chalet located just a few meters away from the beach and surf, easy walking distance to local amenities.

The main accommodation is a traditional Galician building that was converted in 2010 to become one of the regions first dedicated Surf Hotels. The 2,200 m2 building can accommodate up to 86 guests in a range of rooms spread over two floors. The hotel is located right on the beachfront only 20 meters from the waves.

The 1st Floor comprises of 8 bedrooms to sleep 4 people, 3 bedrooms to sleep 6 people each with ample wardrobe space plus a communal bathroom.

The 2nd Floor  comprises of 8 bedrooms to sleep 4 people with ensuite bathroom and more than half the rooms on this floor have sea views.

The surf hotel is located only meters away from the beach and ocean where the surf lessons and surfing take place.  It has all the facilities you need onsite including a restuarant, bar and shop. There’s also a communal area where the team organise surf lectures and video analysis sessions.

Galician food & drink

Galicia has a reputation for Gourmet cuisine and is also considered to be the sea food capital of Spain! Thanks to the many coastal inlets and Riás producing some fine seafood. Most cities and villages have a plethora of restaurants that offer a sumptuous mix of traditional dishes, elaborate and international cuisine, shellfish, meat, fish and «tapas» all washed down with fine regional wines and other beverages. Recommended dishes: Pulpo a la Gallega (Octopus), Almejas (Baby Clams), Vieras (Scallops), Navajas (Razor Clams), Percebes (Barnacles), Pimientos de Padron (Hot peppers), Empanadas Gallegas etc. Wines: Albariño white wines and Ribeiros whites and reds.

MEALS

All meals are provided by a typical Galician restaurant located on the premises with terrace and views to the ocean/surf. Everyday the chef prepares different nutritianal and balanced meals that will provide the energy you need to surf and refuel after a hard days surfing. Vegetarians and other special dietary needs can be catered for in a Spanish way.

The restaurant also has a bar which is a great meeting point for all our guests and the local surf community. It’s the perfect place to chill out, socialise and meet new people aprés surf. The local surf team also organise BBQ’s and music concerts with local and national bands which all adds to the great vibe and atmosphere.

Surf School & Surf Lessons

The Surf School was formed in 2004 by the local Surf Club in association with the Galician Surfing Federation. Over the years the club has produced some good local surfers who are now competing both at national and international level.

The Surf Instructors are all qualified via the Galician Surfing Federation (FGS) and all have the necessary skills and patience to help you progress in a safe but fun enviroment at your own pace. The coaching is specifically aimed at those who have never surfed before or those who have already taken some some lessons but feel they need to improve further. Surfing is progressive and there is always something new to be experienced and learnt!

For safety reasons and to ensure you get the attention you need on dry land and in the water, the Surf Lessons have a low student to instructor ratio. All students are placed with an instructor who specialize in teaching at a particular level.

TYPICAL SURF LESSON PLAN

  • Warm-up, Stretching and Specific body excercises
  • Beach safety and Basic safety rules in the water
  • Equipment choice according to your level: wetsuits, boards, accessories
  • Prone position, Pop-up, Stance

Custom boards are available for more experienced surfers who are already comfortable riding a higher performance board. The instructors will select a board suitable for your size, weight and ability.
