WINDSURFING HOLIDAYS IN SOTAVENTO & JANDIA, FUERTEVENTURA SOUTH
Fuerteventura is the second largest of all the Canary Islands but the least populated. It’s famous for its massive sand dunes, pristine white sandy beaches, clear warm waters, pleasant all year round climate, consistent trade winds, surf and laid back Canarian pace of life. Being only a 4 hour flight from most European cities it’s an ideal place to kick back, relax and learn how to windsurf or improve your windsurfing skills.
The South is quieter than the north with less tourism thanks to restricted development. Sotavento located a short drive from the tranquil resort of Costa Calma is the main windsurfing area in the south. Sotavento is a legendary windsurf spot and each year it hosts the annual Professional Windsurfing World Cup. The wind is predominantly cross-offshore and the windsurfing spot forms part of a long stretch of fine white sandy beach. Sotavento lies directly in a wind accelaration zone and as such it’s the islands most consistently windy place. In summer the winds can reach speeds of up to 9 Bft (45 knots). The spot also benefits from having a large shallow lagoon which provides ideal conditions for beginners/intermediates.
Our range of windsurfing holidays below have been designed to suit most tastes/budgets and will appeal to single travellers, couples, friends and families. We can cater for everybody from absolute beginners who have never windsurfed before to intermediates who have completed a course elsewhere and need to improve, to seasoned windsurfers who are just looking for accommodation to rent in the best windsurfing locations.
